Literature Text

It’s too much sometimes
When the world has rained down upon you
And everywhere you turn
The message is pushed
That the only way out
Is to give up

And there’s a voice
Here and there
Telling you
That they’re wrong
And you try to cling to that
Little ray of sunshine you have been
Blessed with

But what is sunshine
In a hurricane

When the world around you
Is a dark, dismal mess
With it’s mandates and fake smiles
In this artificial world
Where logic is screwed
And we slowly yet surely
Destroy ourselves
And the media tells us
It’s
Fun

Where is the sunshine in a hurricane

When home is a hell
When the only kind of family we can find
Is what we had to dig through mud for
As we dug our own trenches
While the peers around us
Told us the world would be better
If we stayed down
When the only comfort
Is what we crafted ourselves
With our blood
And our tears
And our hope
That maybe
Just maybe
There could be someone
Blind enough
To love us

Where is sunshine in a hurricane

When the walls fall down
As our innocence is stabbed with a knife
And the world laughs as it bleeds
Because this is the nation we have built ourselves
Our kingdom of hatred
And misery
With walls built of carelessness
And moats filled with depression
And it’s subjects are rotting away
Yet they smile on
Because
Who are we
To break character

Yet we stop
And something makes us look up
Past the walls
And the people
At the sky
And sure
It’s gray

But it wasn’t always
And it won’t always be

There is sunshine in a hurricane
You just have to dig
Needed to vent, so have a poem.
